HSAA are pleased to again be an Award Partner in the 2022 Graduate Exhibition, providing a cash award to the value of $5,000.

The 2022 recipient, First Nations artist Caroline Oakley, presents a powerful work ‘Sew and Stitch’, a silk cut linoleum relief on transparent paper pattern from the series’ “You took away”, this work explores the narratives of the colonists taking away and removing First Nations people from their communities, their land, their language and customs, and replacing them with farming, Christianity, Reserves, Missions and other imposed ideals and methodologies.
