Winner of the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize in 2021, sponsored by Hill Smith Art Advisory, Rebecca McEwan Is a South Australian emerging visual artist working in a variety of media including drawing, encaustic wax, sculpture and installation. Rebecca received a Bachelors Degree in Visual Art and Design from Adelaide College of the Arts in 2016, receiving the Arts Excellence award for Drawing. Her work explores human connection with the natural world at both a macroscopic and microscopic level. Rebecca’s artwork has been exhibited in multiple galleries within South Australia and interstate including Hill Smith Gallery. Rebecca continually seeks to enrich her practice by regularly undertaking opportunities such as a mentorship programs and artist residencies resulting in an exhibitions and public engagement events. Rebecca’s recent accolades include winning both the Emerging Artist and Dr Wendy Wickes Memoriam People’s Choice category of the 2020 Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize.
